SERVE

“…I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did to me. The familiar words of Jesus in Matthew 25:40 ask us to serve others in His name.  There are many opportunities within St. Joseph First UMC to serve others by giving our time, talents and financial resources.



Over 100 dresses were made by ladies in the church for Grace’s Children’s Hospital in Haiti.

Serving Through Outreach

Local Missions

  • Angel Tree for Christmas

  • Benton Harbor Emergency Shelter – collect supplies every other month

  • Benton Harbor Street Ministry – collect supplies every other month (alternating with Emergency Shelter)

  • Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen – volunteers prepare and serve lunch on the 2nd Monday of each month.  

  • Coat Box & Mitten Tree

  • CROP Walk

  • Emergency Food Pantry for the Needy (at our church)

  • Forgotten Man Ministry

  • Harbor Harvest Urban Ministries – mentoring K-6th and providing volunteers for HHUM Summer Exploration Program

  • Jail Ministry

  • Safe Shelter and The Link


Regional Missions

  • Henderson Settlement and Red Bird Mission in KY

  • Midwest Mission Distribution Center in Chatham, IL


World Missions

  • Blanket Plus Offering on Mother’s Day

  • Haiti Hot Lunches, Haitian Child and Sewing for Haiti

  • Hunger/Relief Fund – received the 1st Sunday of each month

  • 3 Missionary Families:  the Cravens, the Groves and the Nordstroms

  • New Life Center and Mujila Falls Agriculture Centre in Zambia

  • Operation Christmas Child

  • PETS – Personal Energy Transportation
