Membership is a formal commitment to the local congregation. Members make a covenant to uphold one another in a community of love and forgiveness, as they encourage growth in service and discipleship. New members take a vow to participate in the church with prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. The commitment ceremony may take place at either the Traditional or Casual service.
You may become a member of St. Joe First UMC by transferring membership from another congregation, or by taking new member classes. For adults, classes are led by our senior pastor. Contact Pastor Dan to find out when the next session will be offered. For youth, becoming a member takes the form of confirmation classes, led by our Director of Children and Youth Ministries. Contact Will Flaherty for more information.
Certain offices within the organizational structure of the congregation can only be held by members. Also, you must be a member of the congregation to vote on any official business of the church, especially at the annual Church Conference, normally held in the fall.
