JUNE 21-26, 2020
The Missions Team is excited to announce an adult mission trip to Puerto Rico in June of next summer! This trip will be open to anyone 18 and older.
Why did we choose Puerto Rico with Thirst Missions? Thousands of families still need help rebuilding after so much destruction from Hurricane Maria in September 2017. Click here to see video.
With Thirst Missions, we will be partnered with a local church and pastor who are in need of a mission team to assist them. We will serve alongside a local congregation and in a community with real needs. Once the congregation finds out our team will be coming, they spend months praying for the trip and preparing for our group to arrive. It is a huge deal for them. What a blessing it will be to experience the world-wide body of Christ!
Each person on our team can choose from different service options:
Repair, paint and cleanup houses
Do home visits and distribute food & supplies
Do neighborhood outreach for the church which could involve some type of event or sports
Work with kids through VBS or a kids club
There will be 4 days of mission work, plus a welcome service and evening group time for everyone to share and pray. A little bit of fun awaits us in San Juan before leaving. See this video of the mission teams in Puerto Rico with Thirst during the summer of 2019.
We will have the opportunity to encourage the church we partner with once we return home. From letters, email, Facebook, texting and exchanging resources, the relationships that are developed in Puerto Rico can turn into life-long relationships and fellowship with believers around the world.
The cost of the trip will be $799 per person, plus airfare of $565.40. If you are interested in joining this mission team, please talk to Kim Risk or Julie Lester. They will check if spots are still available.
Please go to the website www.thirstmissions.org to learn more or email Kim. We are excited to have an enthusiastic group of 18 from St. Joe First UMC going to Puerto Rico and serving June 21-16, 2020!
