"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms."  1 Peter 4:10

St. Joe First offers many ways to serve, no matter what particular gifts you may or may not have.  God has a purpose for each one of us and serving together strengthens the body of Christ, his church.  Finding a way to serve is a critical component to growing in your faith, so important that we make it part of our vision statement Connect-Learn-Serve.

Areas to Serve

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Do you love being around children and sharing the joy and love of Christ with them?  You can do this through teaching Sunday School or Kids' Worship, helping with Spark on Thursdays, serving in the Nursery on Sunday mornings, providing childcare on Friday mornings, or being part of our summer Kids' Camp team.  Just contact Director of Children's Ministries Will Flaherty @269.325.7057 or email.

YOUTH MINISTRY

Be a strong Christian role model and help with FLAME youth group, after-school small groups or Sunday School.  Chaperones are needed for winter retreats, special out-of-town events and the youth mission trip.  Would you like to create the newsletter or help maintain the FLAME Facebook page?  Contact Will Flaherty @269.325.7057 or email.

MUSIC MINISTRY

If you have musical talents, this is a great church for you!  We offer a Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, Worship Band and special music opportunities for vocalists and instrumentalists. Have you ever wanted to be part of a musical?  We look for actors, directors, costumers, makeup artists and set designers.  Please contact Rev. Jim Kraus @269.983.3929 or email and let him know of your talent.

MISSION OUTREACH

We are a mission-minded church that offers opportunities to serve here, near and far.  Various collection drives are held on a monthly basis - for food, Blessings Box items, Safe Shelter items and more. Sewers and knitters make layette items, tote bags, shawls, hats, and mittens.  Serve in the local Soup Kitchen or participate in a mission project.  Get plugged in where you can make a difference!

CARE & SUPPORT MINISTRIES

Do you tend to be a very compassionate person?  You may want to train to become a Stephen Minister and provide one-to-one care to people experiencing a difficult time in life.  Other important roles include preparing food for funeral dinners, coordinating meals for the ill, homebound visits, and providing transportation to appointments.  Consider becoming a church van driver for Sundays or special activities. We also have a Jobs Jar to help out those who could use a hand. Contact our Director of Congregational Care Savannah Tucker @269-983-3929 or email

FIRST IMPRESSIONS TEAM

Are you a people person? Join the First Impressions Team and warmly welcome all who come to worship with us.  Invite visitors to have a cup of our GREAT coffee!  Help out at the Hospitality Desk or station yourself at an entry door.  Make sure visitor gift bags are stocked and ready.  Another task is to prepare the coffee, set out supplies and clean up after. Contact Patrick McCrevan @269.930.3113 or email.

WORSHIP TEAM

It takes a lot of people to offer two very different worship services each Sunday.  Offer your time to be a lay speaker, liturgist, worship leader, usher, or communion assistant.  Ushers also collect the offering.  Even something as simple as straightening the pews after each service is greatly appreciated.  Talk to Pastor Dan or Rev. Jim Kraus if you'd like to help in some way with the worship services.

TECHNOLOGY & PHOTOGRAPHY

Volunteers are needed once or twice a month to help with our sound system or run the screens for one of the services.  Training is provided!  Occasionally we seek someone to take video of a service or special program. Contact Scott Risk @269.556.9052 or email.  Do you enjoy being a photographer?  We are always in need of pictures of our church activities and events to share on social media.  Do you have the ability to create graphics or videos? Contact Kim Risk @269.556.9052 or email.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Organizers and hands-on helpers are needed for community outreach events like our Easter EGGStravaganza, Kids' Camp, and Fall Festival. Perhaps you might also enjoy helping with weddings held at our church. Contact the church office @269.983.3929 for more information or watch the bulletins for announcements.

SMALL GROUP LEADERS

We have small groups for women, men, couples, young adults, softball players, walkers, sewers, knitters, prayer warriors, and teens - do you have ideas for a new group? Pastor Dan would love to hear them!  We also seek Sunday School teachers for all age groups. Sometimes we do an all-church study and form new small groups for a limited time period.   Talk to Pastor Dan and offer your leadership talent.  Contact him @269.983.3929 or email.
